Awareness Campaigns on Shopping Malls

Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council Launches Awareness Campaign across Shopping Malls.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), responsible for the development of quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality in Abu Dhabi, has commenced its ‘Mall Activation’ initiative across various shopping malls in Abu Dhabi, starting from Al Wehda Mall. The campaign aims at educating the community on safety of children’s toys and QCC quality services and infrastructure.

The three-day event will run until 14 December at Al Wehda Mall, during which QCC will showcase its services for checking toys of children aged 0-14 years. QCC’s consumer and market services department is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this scheme in Abu Dhabi. All toys available in the UAE’s market in general and specifically Abu Dhabi’s market are mandated to bear the Gulf Conformity Mark. Towards this end, QCC’s markets monitoring department and its representative have appointed a qualified team of inspectors to conduct regular and surprise inspection visits to identify consumer products that do not conform to the UAE, the GCC and international safety standards. During the ‘Mall Activation’, QCC will introduce the public to the Gulf Conformity Mark and highlight its efforts in this field.

QCC has additionally planned a number of activities at Al Wehda Center with the aim of educating consumers on selecting the appropriate toy that suits the age of the child and meets the approved safety requirements. The staff of QCC, in cooperation with volunteers from the Emirates Public Relations Association, offered a presentation to train consumers to conduct visual inspection of toys before purchase.
